Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a therapeutic approach that supports the nervous system in releasing the effects of stress, overwhelm, and trauma—whether from recent events or long-held patterns. Instead of focusing on the story of what happened, SE works with the body’s innate capacity to move out of fight, flight, or freeze and return to a natural state of ease.
In each session, we move slowly and with mindful awareness, gently tracking the sensations, impulses, and rhythms of your nervous system. This allows the body to complete protective responses that were previously interrupted and to resolve stored activation at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
At LauLāʻau, SE is offered with presence, compassion, and a deep respect for the body’s intelligence. Sessions may include grounding exercises, gentle movement, breath awareness, and guided attention to sensations—all supporting your system in finding more regulation, spaciousness, and stability.
